This article describes both the value of multiplexing assays including multiple versions of the same antigen as well as of conditional binding, more explicitly dependent on bicarbonate concentrations. Thus, the team has managed to develop a T-cell engager as conditionally active biological with clearly reduced toxicity for a cancer-related target with otherwise known high on-target, off-tumor side effects.
